Chinese Dining Day

  
Nihao! Yesterday we went to Master House for Chinese dining day with 8CH and 8LH. We had to take the bus into town and sat at big round tables.

After being seated the food came out pretty fast with the staff telling us what it was because some of it was different from the food we usually eat. One of the things I tried was chicken feet. It was deep fried just like KFC! After it was finished we took the bus back to school Zàijiàn!

The Great Beach Clean Up.

My mates and i were hanging at the beach surfing and swimming when we saw some signs for the great beach clean up.  We all decided to sign up to help make sure our beach was clean.  Later that week the council people brought in some recycling and rubbish bins so that everyone could put the rubbish in the right place and keep it off the beach altogether.  The beach care lady Milly who organised the clean up also shouted us and the rest of the helpers morning tea for helping.  While working on the clean up we also worked with Jamie McDell she told us all about the sea life that would be safe now that all this rubbish was off the beach.

Last day of the summer

It was the last day of the summer holidays and my friends and I decided to out to the waterhole for one last time.  We were all swimming and jumping off the bank into the ice cold water laughing and having loads of fun enjoying the last day of the holidays.  Then suddenly the jump platform callapsed and Brylie fell and bang is head we all rushed over and saw that he was hurt and bleeding, then we help get him to the car so his mum could take him to the A&E. Later we when to see him he was ok but he now had a mean war wound and 6 stitches in his head.

While on my hunting trip with my Dad we had spent the day chasing a stag and were totally exhausted, finally we came to an old bush hut there we set up camp for the night.  The hut was remote with no power of wifi but lucky for us we had some candles and a cooker, i started to eat my spargetti and drink a warm hot chocolate when the door to the hut flew open and the wind blow thought the hut just as the flame flickered and went out on the candle we were left in total darkness.

This  is my catabolite - the good thing about it is it is very strong. i used the rubber bands for extra launch power  the frame is designed to withstand fire power. The cross pattern on the front create triangles with this the strongest shape to use. in fact lots of bridges are designed with triangle shape support.
The down side to my design is it is made of iceblock sticks and a plastic spoon so you have to be a little gentle otherwise it may break.

The Three Little Pigs Go Down

This is Harrison Bond reporting live for Guardian news here in New York City on the corners of 21st and 4th streets with Breaking News - The Three Little Pigs were arrested in sham. It  turns out that after years of us all believing that the big bad wolf the evil one -  this was so not the case​  as earlier today police raided the brick house of the three little pigs and arrested them for fraud and murder of the Wolf​.    

The three little pigs have confessed to conspiring to committing insurance fraud, framing the wolf in an attempt to cover their tracks.  Their motive was financial as they struggled to keep up with their mortgage payments.

What will happen now to the three little pigs - keep posted as more information come to us to report.

blood is the transport system in your body you need it to keep moving and keep you functioning - your body has about four litre of blood (that's just like 2x 2litre bottles of milk) so we need to becare with our blood as we only have enough just for ourselves.

The red cells in our blood are to carry oxygen and the white cells are to help us fight infections.  The cell parts are called platelets - my Dad has a rare blood function and he does not have that many platelets so it means that if they get to low and he cuts himself it is hard for him to stop bleeding - cause platelets help to stop bleeding and clot

Every day he walk to the bottom of the mountain and back up again it was but one day it was pouring down rain so the little old did not walk to the bottom of the mountain and back up again so on that he stayed inside. The next day the man did not walk down the mountain and back up again he he forgot and the next day he the man did not walk down the mountain and back up again.

A J Hackett has changed the world by inventing Bungy Jumping and bringing this extreme sport to the world.  He has given tourists to New Zealand and other parts of the world the opportunity to take part in the ultimate adrenalin rush.  

A J Hackett was born in Auckland in 1958 and loved all sports especially skiing.  He was a member of the New Zealand Speed Skiing Team.  It was while he was in Paris skiing that he decided to bungy jump off the Eiffel Tower.  This got him worldwide attention and he returned to New Zealand to open the world’s first commercial bungy operation in Queenstown.

He has brought New Zealand to the attention of all extreme sports people worldwide as a place for them to visit and experience all the amazing outdoor pursuits that New Zealand has to offer.  This has been beneficial to New Zealand’s tourism industry as a whole.

The Little wee Shed

The Little wee Shed

There once was a little wee Shed that sat on the edge of the forest surrounded by a field of wild flowers.  This shed was owned by a man called Mr Wednesday he used this shed for a place that inspired him to write stories for kids just me.  Some of the stories were scary. This was because when he wrote at night the wind blew all around which made him scared.  On cold and rainy days he would light a fire with the wood he had chopped and stacked outside of the shed.  He even had a rock and this was his thinking rock called ‘Stacey’ and some days he would climb the steps and sit on his porch drinking hot chocolate.  Other days, he would fall asleep inside the shed listening to the rain on the old tin roof.

1. Why do refugees leave their country?

• War
• Religious beliefs
• Political views
• Natural disasters eg earthquakes
• They have no money (poverty) for basics such as food and shelter
• They fear for their own lives and that of their families  

2. What is the difference between a refugee and a migrant?

Refugees are forced to leave their country because they are in danger.   They leave behind their belongings, family members and friends. They often have no warning and have been treated badly.  They cannot return unless the reason they left improves.  They have no choice.

Migrants  are people who choose to leave their country, usually for a better life.  Before they leave they can plan and research.  They are free to return home at any time.

3. Who helps them to find accommodation?

• Refugee Services
• Housing New Zealand
• Church groups

4. What are some of the problems that refugees face when settling in a new country?

• Language - learning to speak English.
• Leaving family behind.
• Getting a job, they are often not able to work in the field they are trained in.
• Racism.
• Different food.
• Not feeling part of the community.
• Not having friends.
• Different clothing.
• Not being able to go home and visit family.

5. Why do they like living in New Zealand?

• They feel safe.
• They can work and provide food and shelter for their families.
• There is low cost or free health care.
• Free education.
• Freedom of speech.
• Can practise their religious beliefs.
• Nicer environment to live in - clean and green.

Daniel’s Big Adventure

Daniel’s Big Adventure

Once upon a time there was a boy named Daniel. He was eleven years old and he loved adventures.

One day he was having an adventure and he said to himself “What is that?” as he was staring at a glistening light in the distance. He started walking over to it.

When Daniel got to the light, there was a bright light shining from the inside of the box. He slowly opened the box and there was a deep, dark hole. Daniel took a big risk and jumped down the hole carefully. It was a very long drop.

“Wow!” he yelled,”Poof!” He hit the ground. As he was getting up he looked around. He said, “It looked like the temple from the movie Indiana Jones.

Then in front of him appeared a dark, black door, with a dragon above it. The giant dragon was guarding the door from the unwelcomed visitors. On a sign made of mossy stone it said

the only way to get in is to bring a packet of lollies, and he had a big packet of lollies in his backpack. So Daniel grabbed the bag of lollies and threw them behind him. The dragon flew after the delicious lollies. Daniel ran towards the door quickly, then he opened the door carefully and ran through the door. Then the door closed behind him. He could not believe himself. As to his amazement he had just stepped foot into Candyland.

He looked around and said, “I'm in heaven.” He saw a moving lollypop. Daniel started walking over to the lolly pop.

The lolly pop said, “Hi, my name is Pop.” “What is your name?”

Daniel replied, “My name is Daniel but you can call me Dan.”

“Hi Dan,” said Pop. “Let me show you around the town in Candyland.”

“OK,” said Dan.

Twenty minutes later Pop said, “This is my house, it is where I live,”

“OK,” said Dan. “Do you ever eat your houses?”

“No,” said Pop.“Where are you from?”

“Hamilton,” said Dan.” “Is that where you live?” asked Pop.

“Yes,” replied Dan. “Can you help me get home?”

“OK” said Pop. So they started walking over to the door.

It was gone.
